Vitanin
leaving for Tiamaranta…
Letter from Vitanin to Lemuria
when she completes her training, becoming a Warrior of Atreia. The last words,
never pronounced, took place when Lemuria was still a toddler.
I remember
every detail of that day. Dark, sad sky. The cold penetrated my body making my
squeezed heart feeling even tighter.
Tiamaranta’s Governor,
along with our great leaders, put together the finest warriors in all Atreia in
order to create Spera.
For the first time, Elyos and
Asmodians fought together side by side. Protecting each other. I never thought
I would live enough time to see something that much fraternal between us. As a
young Daeva my biggest dream was to finish all of them. Those who made my family
cry the death of their loved ones. Those who made me cry the lost of many dear
friends. Warriors, Innocents, Families. Children who grew up bitter, without
knowing the love of a father or a mother who would snuggle them into bed in the coldest
nights.
But all that warmth… The hope
that the millennial war would be soon over, leaving only the weak Balaur to
live in these lands… Between
me… And you…
The night before my
departure Kahrun himself went to our house. We had been celebrating the return
of one more contingent from Tiamaranta with friends. I remember I felt warm. Calm.
That feeling of running through Ishalgen's forest in the Summer afternoons.
Feeling that all was over and that I would finally be able to rest. Watch you
grow. Watch you live away from all the sorrow I felt.
Why leaving you then…
I will not lie to you… I
never thought twice. I didn't felt any doubt about my decision. Which, instead
of slow and fearful, was quick and confident.
Aion conceded us the
opportunity all were waiting for. The opportunity to destroy the
Balaur once and for all. And finally, concede you, the future I never had.
I have never slept with such
eagerness to wake up the next morning. I felt that everything would change
forever.
I remember that for the first
time… Epharun did not sleep by my side. Did not care me in his arms.
He left the house right after
I confessed my final decision to Kahrun. Everyone was happy. Congratulating me.
Wishing me luck and strength. But Epharun just left.
The man who always supported
me in my convictions of sacrifice in order to protect Atreia… Had abandoned me.
I didn't see him that night…
I didn't see him the next morning… When I left.
Suddenly, your face… Small,
soft, innocent… Gazing me with tears… My heart felt tight. In a matter of
seconds, all the strength and desire of going to war vanished… Only your tears
and warm strong hug remained. I left you the hair ribbon my grandmother gave my
mother, Subella… Who gave it to me the day I left home to Pandaemonium… No. To the World. Without a return
date. I gave it to you. Lemuria. Knowing that through that
ribbon we would be always connected and that you would always know my love for
you.
If I left you, I did it
because I wished that we could play together near the market’s fountain again
for many many millenniums. Now, sitting in this small shed… I’m not sure my decision
was the wisest one.
I remember
every detail of that day. Dark, sad sky. The cold penetrated my body making my
squeezed heart feeling even tighter.
I stopped near Kamar’s gate…
Looked around one last time. Now without the certainty of my return.
My faithful Pagatti continued
his march… I remember that I was feeling more and more cold… And my heart was
more and more tighten.
